My gosh, what a wonderful way to start a blog!! If that doesn't get folks thinking, I don't know what will. I'll be interested to see what kind of answers you get from your students! Wonder if they'll go strictly with music (basic rock and roll giants that were women); historical--where would we be without that first flag; modern day battles/war--or do they even know about Jane Fonda's involvement in the Viet Nam mess; religious--the one voice that had Christians shaking in their boots when prayer was removed from the schools and then it just kept going; and so on, and so on, and so on! Awesome girl. Now that you've got it started and have the enthusiasm, there's no where to go but up! Congratulations on getting it started.

I'm curious as to why others have not commented on this. It really is a cool opening question. So--what is the next question? This is a neat way tow have a blog==a question a week. So for this week, the question will be.....

I have to say that I loved the title of your blog! It really caught my eye! I think that is great to think about good female leadership when the news is littered with the "Lindsey and Brittney Rehab Blues"! I have to say that I have always loved Lucille Ball. She may not have contributed much humanitarily, but she sure could make me laugh! Hey . . . and who doesn't love Lucy?

Wow! You really got my attention! To answer your question, I think Oprah Winfrey (for better or worse) has influenced so many people, especially women. While I praise her strength and independence, I don't always agree with her views (especially on religion and spirituality). But I do applaud her success and her ability to inspire others to be more than they think they are capable of being.

There are so many women who have made valuable contributions that it will take several blogs to write about them. I appreciate the efforts of all women in whatever field they are in...the stay-at-home moms, evangelists, professionals, etc. All have contributed to make life easier for women as a whole.
